Physical Activity Correlates among Urban and Rural Youth

چکیده
Regular physical activity (PA) is important for the healthy growth and development of children and youth. Public health initiatives aimed at improving levels of PA among youth have not had a substantial impact, with participation rates continuing to be below recommended targets. The most current data from the Canadian Fitness and Lifestyle Research Institute’s (CFLRI) Canadian Physical Activity Levels Among Youth study (CANPLAY) indicate that only a very small proportion (6%) of children and youth (aged 5 to 17 years) participate in enough PA to meet national guidelines (60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity daily).1
